Bowlers update Feb 24


Spring Update for Bowling Club Members.

Dear Bowling Club Member,
The Bowing Club Committee has been working hard to put in place all the
arrangements for the Summer Bowling Season 2024. Here are some important
points of information for you to keep to hand as we look forward to the return
to play on our wonderful grass rinks in Clontarf.
• Unfurling of the Clontarf Bowling Club Flag by Captain Anne Phelan on
Saturday 23rd March 2024 at 2.30pm. This event marks the official opening
of the Summer Bowling Season. It will be followed by a members ‘get
together’ in the West Wing of the Clubhouse. Food will be served. ALL
BOWLERS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND. You will receive your Invitation soon.
Please be sure to RSVP. We need to get an accurate number of those who
will attend.
• Clontarf Bowling Club Newsletter – Spring 2024: The Newsletter contains
all the essential information about upcoming bowling and social events, the
preparations underway for the season and who is who in the club. You can
pick it up at Reception in the Clubhouse or in the Pavilion.
• Club Competitions Entry Forms: The Entry Forms for the Club Competitions
for this season are available at Reception in the Clubhouse. They will also
be available at the Unfurling on Saturday 23rd March 2024. The closing date
for entries for the Club Competitions is 7th April 2024.
• Handicaps: The new Handicaps List for 2024 is on the Noticeboard in the
• ILB Leagues. This year Clontarf Bowling Club has entered teams in 6 leagues
playing on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Every Bowler who is
interested in competitive bowling will have the opportunity to play over the
course of the Summer. Captain Anne has appointed the managers for the

teams – see details in the Newsletter. The leagues are expected to start at
end of April.
• New ILB Rules: The latest draft of the ILB rules for the leagues and
competitions is published on the ILB website at ILB Draft Competition Rules

• Social Bowling: The Tuesdays and Fridays Social Bowling will start on
Tuesday 23rd April 2024. The new Start Time is 2 pm.
• Safeguarding and Garda Vetting. Well Done to all those bowlers who
recently completed the Safeguarding Course organised in the Club for
volunteers for Friday Friends. The next step, which is the Garda Vetting
process, must be organised, for bowlers, through the ILB. If you wish to
apply for the Garda Vetting Cert, please email me at stating you full name, your address and
your email address. I will pass the information on to John Nolan, National
Childrens Officer, in the ILB. He will follow up the Garda Vetting process with
you directly.
• Vacancy on the Bowling Club Committee: Recently the structure of the
Bowling Club Committee has been changed and there is now a position on
the Committee to be filled. If you are interested in helping with the running
of the Bowling Club, please consider putting your name forward for the
