Clontarf Bowling Club to hold Presidency of the Ladies’ Bowling League of Ireland in 2022


Clontarf Bowling Club will host the Presidency of the Ladies Bowling League of Ireland (LBLI) in 2022.  Ms Catherine Hazlett, member of Clontarf Bowling Club, has taken up the role of President of the association for 2022.  

On her appointment Ms Hazlett said ‘she was deeply honoured to be appointed President in the year which marks the 60th anniversary of the founding of the LBLI’. She said she was looking forward to contributing to the development of lawn bowls for women and for men and for those of all ages and all abilities.

Mr Tommy Cooke, President of Clontarf Golf and Bowling Club ‘congratulated her on her appointment’. He said that promoting inclusion, diversity and equality in sport are important priorities for the Club. He wished the LBLI President every success in her year of office. Peter Laird, Captain of Clontarf Bowling Club, also wished her well and said it was an honour for the Club to host the Presidency year. 

The LBLI organises the game of women’s lawn bowls among its 19 member clubs which are mainly located throughout the Dublin and Leinster region. About 500 women play lawn bowls competitively under the banner of the LBLI and there are hundreds more who play lawn bowls socially in their local clubs.

Clontarf Bowling Club has over 100 members and new members are always welcome to join. The club is based in Clontarf Golf and Bowling Club on the Malahide Road, Dublin 3.  Further details about membership are available from the Club at 01 8331892.
