A message from our President

After a very difficult, challenging year for us all in 2020 we commiserate with those who suffered or lost friends and family and look forward to a happier and healthier year in 2021. It is a pleasure for me to extend my good wishes to all the members and visitors who have the joy to play or participate in this wonderful club. We are very privileged to have such a beautiful and challenging golf course, a magnificent lawn bowling green, a superb clubhouse with a Snooker Room, Lounge with Bar and excellent restaurant with fine dining provided by Laurent and Anne.

For this we have to thank the Rev J. L. Morrow with his committee of founding members who had the foresight to establish this club in 1912. In 1925 the Club expanded to create a magnificent Bowling Club. Since then the club has developed through the dedicated work of many committees into the extraordinary facility it is today.

Our feature hole is the par four 12th where the drive has to be placed accurately onto a narrow plateau before hitting across two ponds to an elevated green. It's also called the ‘quarry hole’ as it’s where most of the stone which paved Dublin's streets was quarried from in the 18th and 19th centuries.

We have the unique distinction of being one of the closest Golf and Bowling Clubs to a capital city in Europe being only 4.3 kilometers from O'Connell Street, the city’s main thoroughfare.
We are noted for the warm welcome our members and staff afford to all visitors and guests.

I thank all those members both past and present who give their time and efforts voluntarily on committee or otherwise so we may have a more enjoyable and fulfilling life.
Finally I wish our Golf Captains Dave and Anne, Bowling Captain Peter and Junior Captains Dara and Sarah a very successful and enjoyable year ahead. To our members and visitors I wish you all a very healthy, happy and sporting 2021.

Tommy Cooke
